Karon Selected for 2024 Super Lawyers®List

Posted October 04, 2024

By Jonathan A. Karon

I’m pleased to share that I’ve been selected for the 2024 list of Massachusetts Super Lawyers® for personal injury law. Super Lawyers® is part of Thomson Reuters. According to their website, only 5% of eligible attorneys are selected for the Super Lawyers® list. The selection process involves peer nominations, independent research and evaluations by other attorneys. I’ve been selected for their list every year since 2008 and I’m honored to be included in a list with so many friends and colleagues I respect. The list is for personal injury law in general and doesn’t specify all the different types of cases I handle. So, if you don’t already know me, I handle a wide variety of serious personal injury cases including traumatic brain injuries, dangerous products, auto accident cases, amusement ride accidents and all sorts of general negligence cases.

Although these types of lists can be useful, I’d caution against relying solely on published on-line ratings. Years ago I did a blog post on “How to Find a Good Lawyer” that still contains good advice (the link is here https://www.karonlaw.net/blog/?id=440). In a nutshell, on-line ratings are a useful tool, but the best way to start is ask for a referral from a lawyer you know and trust, whether or not they practice the type of law you’re looking for. If you don’t know a lawyer, ask your friends if they’ve used a lawyer they liked. Once you have a name, go to the lawyer’s web site and then do some additional vetting on-line, which these days also includes google reviews. There’s more to it than that and if you’re looking for a lawyer I suggest you read the full post.

Once you’ve found someone you should definitely meet with them in person or on Zoom. It’s important whoever you hire be a good fit, so you want to make sure this is someone you can work with. Most personal injury attorneys will not charge for an initial meeting to help you decide. I certainly don’t.

So, while it always feels good to be recognized on these lists, in the end, the most important rating for me is how my clients feel about the job I did for them.
