Karon Selected for Best Lawyers in America®

Posted September 30, 2026

By Jonathan A. Karon

Last month I was notified I’d be included the 2027 edition of Best Lawyers in America® in the section for lawyers representing plaintiffs in personal injury cases. This is the second year in a row I’ve been selected. According to their website, selection is based on confidential evaluations by other lawyers in my practice area and geographic region. I’ve written before about how these on-line ratings can be useful, but no one should rely on them solely when looking for a lawyer.

Whenever I get selected for one of these types of lists I always feel a little sheepish posting about it. It feels a lot like the quote by the legendary football coach Bear Bryant who told his players they shouldn’t dance in the end zone. “If you score a touchdown, act like you’ve been there before.” I’ve been selected for a number of these kinds of lists and while I always appreciate being recognized, I know the most important thing is how my clients feel about the job I’ve done for them.

But being included in this list feels a little different. When I was a young attorney, before everything was posted on the internet, Best Lawyers in America published a hard cover book each year listing the “Best Lawyers in America”. When I prepared for a job interview with one of the best plaintiff’s firms in Boston, I looked them up in the book and I remember being impressed that the two name partners, now considered legends of the Massachusetts trial bar, were included in Best Lawyers in America.® I got the job (my first in Boston) and learned lessons there I still use today on how to practice law the right way. That I’m now on the same list as those role models means something to me.

Like I said, the most important rating I get is how my clients feel about the job I’ve done for them. But in this case I hope you’ll understand why I felt like sharing this selection. My listing is at https://www.bestlawyers.com/lawyers/jon-karon/424858 Also, my apologies for referring to myself in the third person in the title.
